How to Respect Your Man

Liz:  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard wives say that they just can’t respect their husbands..

John:  Let’s face it; none of us deserves to be respected all of the time.  And yet, every man’s greatest desire is to have the respect of his wife & children. 

Liz:  One of the best ways that I’ve found to respect my husband is to apply a statement made by the Apostle Paul; “Believe the best about your mate.”  As a wife, I must keep in mind that my respect for my husband needs to be steady & unconditional.  Sometimes, due to certain choices he makes, he may not deserve my respect.  However, I choose to respect the “Office of my Husband,” in other words, the position God has given him in our home. 

John:  What would you advise, Liz, for a wife to do if her husband has gone to the race track & gambled away some of their earnings?

Liz: I would encourage the wife to speak the truth to her husband in love & respectfully communicate to him that this behavior is unacceptable to the health of their relationship.

John: When your wife respects you even when you don’t deserve it, it motivates a man to behave in such a way as to be worthy of that respect.
